CS 408 - Assignment 3B

Location Tracking:
Implanting computer chips into pets/farm animal seems very convenient. Using location tracking for finding a lost pet seems like a brilliant idea. When it comes to implanting chips into children, I believe it begins to invade privacy. This could also cause trust issues between parents and children, especially in their teenage years. I would not support a bill that required ID chips in children under the age of 5 simply because it is not natural and somewhat creepy. I don't believe humans should have a tracking device inside of them, it's just weird. GPS shoes for seniors with Alzheimer's however does seem like a good idea because the shoes are removable.

Cell Phones and Privacy:
I do not believe that prepaid cell phones should be banned or controlled by law. They allow people to have privacy if they so choose. Phone booths let people place anonymous calls and they are not illegal, so prepaid cell phones should not be either. Yes, bad people could potentially use prepaid cell phones for the wrong reasons, but not everyone who uses them are criminals. Banning prepaid phones would be somewhat unnecessary because I do not believe they are causing much harm. Some legitimate prepaid cell phone users are tourist, teens that can't afford cellphone plans, or people who rarely use a cellphone, but want one for safety reasons.
